Atonium
The Atomium, which was not meant to outlast Expo 58, for which it was the showpiece construction, was renovated as a major national event between 2004 and 2006. Today, with over 800,000 visitors annually, it is the most popular tourist destination in the European capital, an art center, and an international icon of Belgium.

Catheral St Michael and St Gudula
A chapel dedicated to St Michael was probably built here as early as the 9th century. In the 11 th century it was rep!aced by a Romanesque church which became a “collegiale church” in 1047. The relics of St Gudula were transferred there. From then onwards, it became known as “the collegiale church of St Michae! and St Gudula”.
